Forget the cheap cooperative stuff and get amongst this offering instead. Based in Loreto Aprutino, Pescara, this family run winery is producing extremely high quality, super affordable gems. Their vineyards are composed of stoney limestone situated between 300-350 metres, halfway between the mountains and the Adriatic. For proprietors Antonella and Rodrigo sustainability is all encompassing; sustainable certification through SNQPI, power is from wind farms, irrigation is banned and organic compost utilised in the vineyards.
The Pinot Grigio is sourced from select vineyards east of Verona and has texture and flavour uncommon for the money. Both reds are from vineyards at 300m altitude and are aged for some months in very large (34hL) French oak casks. The Sangiovese is juicy and expressive, while the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is definitive of place and variety. Impeccable.
