This is 100% Prünent (an ancient bio-type of Nebbiolo in Valli Ossolane) aged for a year in a single large Slavonian oak barrel and 6 months in bottle. Vines are up to 100 years old, sometimes pre-phylloxera and found in little pergola trained parcels around Oira, in Piedmont's north most valley. Crystal clear, vertical and pure. Brooding, austere and full of herbal mountain air, this is ancient vine Prünent calling. It is crystal clear, vertical and pure, with dark cherry depth and cool menthol calm. Bitter herbs and spice punctuate the wine and ride out a very long finish. Definitive alpine fine wine from a producer no Nebbiolo lover should miss.
"Transparent and lively garnet red. It opens without haste, declining the aromas on hints of rock that open the door to delicate floral and balsamic nuances, ripe and sweet red fruits, currants, red citrus, strawberries, blackberries, iron and a background spiciness. Upon tasting, greater austerity which in the mouth translates into a decisive but caressing sip, a tapered and graceful tannic fabric, dehydrating and slender, with a rigorous, savoury and pressing finish." Monica Bianciardi - Luciano Pignataro Wine
"Strawberry, cherry, alpine herbs, light, fleet of foot, with a sappy and blood orange flavour profile. Medium-bodied, fine dusty tannin, spiced almond biscuits, quite nervy on a finish of fine length...distinctive." Gary Walsh - The Wine Front
