Pipan Steel is a fantastic little winery located in Mudgegonga in the foothills of the Australian Alps. After becoming obsessed with the great Nebbiolos of Italy, Paula Pipan (Winemaker) and Radley Steel (Vineyard Manager) searched the length and breadth of Australia for the right hillside, at the right elevation, with the right soil that would give them the best shot at producing world class Nebbiolo.
Blend 3 is their traditional blend, which combines the 3 Nebbiolo clones growing at Pipan Steel Wines. It takes the structure of Clone 7 and layers the perfume of Clone 9 with the savouriness of Clone 10, producing a complex satisfying Nebbiolo. Drink it with dishes as delicate as a broth through to rich slow cooked pork.
This wine has spent 2 years in large French oak and 2 years in bottle to fully integrate before release, and will evolve furtherfor many more years... if you can wait that long.
